This episode shared a story that did not start with success. It started with survival.
You heard the full journey of Truman Wallace, founder of the TRU-MAN Center of Hope, and how a childhood accident, a lifelong relationship with music, and a season of deep personal struggle shaped a mission that now serves young men with physical disabilities across our community.
Truman walked through moments most people never see. He talked openly about being hit by a car as a child, building a respected music career, touring, serving in churches, and then hitting a wall where finances dried up and relationships disappeared. He shared the night where he almost gave up and the decision that followed. Get up. Keep going. Help someone else.
That choice became the foundation of the TRU-MAN Center of Hope.
This organization focuses on young men ages 10 to 17 with physical disabilities. Through music, mentorship, discipline, and consistent encouragement, Truman is helping students build confidence before they ever worry about talent. The goal is not perfection. The goal is identity, stability, and joy.
One student in particular changed everything. Truman shared how working with a young man named Eli clarified the mission and confirmed the need. What started as one relationship turned into a vision for a structured nonprofit, a dedicated space, and future expansion through churches, schools, therapists, and business partners.
This conversation also explored mentorship. Truman named the pastors, leaders, men, and women who invested in him over decades. He explained how ministry does not stop at church doors and why serving in the marketplace matters just as much as serving behind a pulpit.
You will also hear:
•How Jennifer went from small business owner to Allstate agency owner after signing a non-compete and having to start over
•How Truman defines legacy and why it must outlive you
•Why confidence matters more than skill for young people
•The difference between trying and doing
•What fear actually is and how it shows up
•Why gratitude anchors Truman’s daily life
•How music becomes a tool for emotional growth
•What partnerships the TRU-MAN Center of Hope needs right now
•Why this work fills a gap that currently exists in our community
